Welcome
to our website.....
2009 is our 12th year of breeding
quality dairy goats. We have around 300 Saanen does and 60 Anglo-Nubians.
Saanens mature fast and produce good volumes, while the Anglo-Nubians are a
little slower maturing, volume is on average a bit less than high volume
Saanens but milk solids are higher due the higher Butterfat content.
Our milk is collected by the New Zealand Dairy Goat Co-operative
nearby in Hamilton and is manufactured into Infant formula and exported
around the world. Goats milk is particularly good for lactose intolerant
people and is an excellent alternative to cows milk or mothers milk for
babies.
As well as our focus on producing milk for the factory, we have a special
interest in the Anglo-Nubian breed. Early in 2007 we
imported a shipment of Anglo-Nubian does and bucks from Australia that we
went over and selected. This, we hope will benefit not only our own herd but
other A.N herds in NZ.
July 2009 will be interesting to see all of our 2 yr old does sired by the
imports coming through to the milking shed. Next year will be awesome with 20
Anglo-Nubian Does from 2008 kidding entering the milking herd.
Our Anglo-Nubians and Saanens have been exported to various parts of the
world
We are able to supply Semen and Embryos as well as livestock for export to
different countries. Please visit our export page for more information.
Orders are being taken now for our Anglo-Nubians doe and buck kids, there will
also be
plenty of Saanen and Saanen x Anglo-Nubian kids available from very good
milking stock.

A bit about us....
Osment Dairy Goats (Ltd) is a Family business
managed by ourselves- Colin and Emma Osment. We live here on the farm with
our children Jacob- 11, Dan -10, Jack -5, Leo -3 and Lucas 1 year old
We also run a small number of cattle for ourselves including a few Lowline
Angus we have two
lazy horses and two miniature horses.
Free Ranging out in the paddock there are many feathered friends including
Muscovy ducks, a white Turkey, Araucana hens and Polish, Pekin and Silkie
Bantams. One of the funniest is our miniature Kune Kune pig named "Oliver Sausage"- he is a little character. Petal the
Pitt Island Merino is supposed to be living out in the paddock but prefers
to live in the goat barns!
Four Dogs and (now five!)Cats also call our place home.......surprisingly the whole
menagerie get along quite well!
But the goats are the main focus here as they are the only animals that
really earn their keep!
We have the occasional group of pre-school or school children come for a
visit and also tourist groups. Please look at further information about
visits and farm stays.
Kidding time from late June through until
September is a very interesting time on the farm and a good time for
learning. If you are interested to come and see what its all about then
contact us, we sometimes have room for extras to stay.
Please browse our website to see more about our goats.
Thanks for
visiting!
